West Indies
The flag was a winning design from a competition, which over 600 local
people entered, in 1967.It was held when Antigua and Barbuda became
an associated state and independent from Britain. The rising sun in
the centre of the flag means a new era; the black background represents
the soil and also heritage. The blue is there for the Caribbean Sea,
the white means hope, the 'V'shape in the centre of the design is to
mean victory, while the red outer triangles represents vigour and dynamism
of their population.
