South America In 1812 the Argentina flag was adopted. The background to the flag's history were from Manuel Belgrano when, he the leader of the revolution, used the colours in the Battle of Rosario in 1812.It is thought the colours on the flag are the two blue strips parting and the bright sun shining through The sun is also called the Sun of May which was added to the flag in 1818 to create the flag for state use.
