West Indies

In 1973 the Bahamas flag was adopted when the country achieved its independence. The flag design is based on ideas from the Bahamas people, the yellow stripe across the centre of the flag indicates the sandy beaches of the island, and while the blue surrounding it represents the Caribbean Sea. The colour black on the edge of the design is shows the strength of the people and population.
